Driving into the future with new EVs

It’s been an exciting month here at Smith&Smith^®. We introduced our very first electric vehicles (EVs) into our vehicle fleet.

Our Area Managers in Auckland and Christchurch are trialling our two new Kia Niro vehicles. With these vehicles being 100% pure electric and setting off zero emissions, we’re pleased to be able to make a positive impact and to ultimately help reduce our greenhouse gas emissions.

As part of our sustainability goals, we have set a target consistent with the Science Based Target methodology. Our goal is to reduce Scope 1 & 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 46.2% by 2030, compared to a 2019 baseline. We’ve discovered that at least 80% of our direct emissions (Scope 1 & 2) come from our vehicle fleet, and that’s why from November 2021, we’ve started transitioning our fleet to low emission vehicles.

We are looking forward to seeing more EVs in our fleet in the future and to continue to make positive change in Aotearoa.
