Supporting Lifeline Aotearoa – A Renewed Commitment to Making a Difference
We’re excited to share that Smith&Smith®, Laser® and Exceed® - together as part of Belron NZ - have renewed our commitment to Lifeline Aotearoa as national charity partner for the next three years. While we've collectively partnered with Lifeline since 2021, Laser® has been backing them for much longer, reflecting a longstanding culture of supporting mental health and wellbeing in New Zealand.
This renewal strengthens a shared effort that has already helped Kiwis through some of life’s toughest moments, and we’re thrilled to continue making an impact together.
For over 60 years, Lifeline has been a beacon of hope, answering more than 10,000 calls and exchanging 20,000 texts every month. Their work helps people grappling with mental health challenges, grief, bullying, and loneliness, and saves lives by providing critical support every day for people who are at risk of suicide.
Our partnership with Lifeline thrives thanks to the creativity, generosity, and passion of our people. At our Auckland support office, team members rent prime ‘Giving Back’ carparks, with proceeds going directly to Lifeline. Fundraising is a key feature of our annual conferences, where silent auctions and other initiatives bring our teams together for a good cause. Throughout the year, our Giving Back Committee keeps the momentum alive with raffles, soup days and other fun events, ensuring everyone has a chance to contribute.
This November, for International Men’s Day, we focused on raising awareness about men’s mental health. A lunchtime event at our support office encouraged meaningful conversations about positive masculinity and mental wellbeing. Alongside this, we hosted a popular Coffee and Cake fundraiser with one of our team bringing their family business’ coffee cart and others baking for the cause. With all proceeds going to Lifeline, plans are already in motion to open future events up to neighbouring local businesses to amplify our impact.
Thanks to these collective efforts, we’ve raised over $145,000 for Lifeline since 2021 - and we’re not stopping there. With one more fundraiser planned for the year, we can’t wait to tally up 2024’s contributions to hand over to our friends at Lifeline early next year!
As Lifeline Aotearoa Operational Manager - Lisa Braid, explains, “Smith&Smith®, Laser® and the Exceed® team’s ongoing support allows us to be there when people need us most. Every dollar raised translates directly into lives saved and hope restored for people in crisis and their loved ones.”
