Recognising our people at our annual awards evening
At Smith&Smith® recognising our people for their achievements both big and small is an important part of our internal culture. To foster this culture of appreciation and recognition we have various initiatives in place to allow everyone within the organisation to actively recognise and thank each other.
This starts with the peer to peer recognition programme through the use of Ka Pai (Māori for good or well done) cards. Team members are encouraged to use Ka Pai cards to recognise each other on a regular basis in a casual way. Cards are widely available and can be used for everyday things like thanking a colleague for helping out on a project or staying late to meet a deadline.
More formally we have the REACH Awards programme that is often used by managers to recognise their team members, but that can be used by anyone within the company, to formally acknowledge and reward a team member or one of our partners for an outstanding achievement linked to our company values. REACH Awards are usually presented in front of an audience of peers and come with a monetary reward and certificate. In 2017 we’re proud to say we gave out 407 REACH Awards to exceptional people throughout our organisation.
But that’s not all, annually there are series of prestigious awards for team members who have made a substantial contribution to our business in the previous year. These awards are presented during a formal awards evening where winners are awarded trophies, made of glass of course. This year the awards ceremony was an elegant black and white themed affair held on the rooftop of the Rydges Hotel in Auckland overlooking the twinkling lights of city.
Throughout the evening, individuals and teams from across the company were recognised for their outstanding contributions made during 2017. We are very proud of all our people and the contributions they make on a daily basis to each other, our customers and to the organisation as a whole.
